I'm Katrina Diaz, award-winning photographer specializing in outdoor & natural light imagery. My passion is capturing special moments from your life and transforming them into exquisite works of art. My wedding photography services are available for weddings world-wide; portrait photography services are available to the Miami Valley and surrounding areas of Ohio.
I first became interested in photography as a fifteen year old, when I took a photography project with 4-H at my local county fair. When I won first place and special awards that year, I was hooked. I began taking pictures of everything in sight, studying every single photography book I could get my hands on, and participating in an international photography forum - BetterPhoto - where I received critiques on my work and really learned what makes or breaks or breaks a photo.
The more I read, studied and practiced, the more I realized that I kept returning to nature and the great outdoors as my theme - something that continues today. Whether shooting trees ensconced in filmy mist, the dazzling colors of oil mixing with rain water in a driveway, or lovers walking off into the sunset together; working on location with natural light and nature-inspired scenes are what I love and do best.
My photographic expression is similar to my personality and can best be described as a fresh, exciting blend of something familiar with a hint of the unknown and mysterious. I combine traditional & contemporary styles with my unique perspective, creative points of view and bold processing techniques to result in imagery that is truly fresh, vibrant and daring.
I continued to study a lot, place high and win various photography awards during my remaining years in 4-H. I also became more and more active with the BetterPhoto photography competitions, winning three second placements, three finalist placements and having most of my images recognized with the special Editor's Pick award – all out of entries by over 150,000 international photographers. My latest achievement was winning Grand Prize in the National 2007 Kim Komando/Radio Shack photo competition.
